The UK Government launched the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) to encourage homeowners to switch from traditional gas, oil, or electric heating to low-carbon heat pumps.

This grant helps cover the installation cost of:

Air Source Heat Pumps Extract heat from the outside air to warm your home.

Ground Source Heat Pumps Use underground pipes to harness natural heat from the earth.

Who Can Apply?

You may be eligible if:

You own your property in England or Wales.

You are replacing a fossil fuel heating system (gas, oil, LPG, or electricity).

Your property has a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) with no outstanding insulation recommendations.

New-built properties are not eligible (unless self-built).
